Nvidia Tackles PC Gaming Shader Compilation Issues
- Nvidia introduces Auto Shader Compilation for RTX 50-series GPUs
- New feature allows background shader compiles during idle times
- Users can customize cache space and scheduling preferences
PC gamers often face lengthy wait times during shader compilation, especially when launching a game for the first time or after a graphics driver update. Nvidia aims to alleviate this frustration with its new feature, Auto Shader Compilation, included in an update for the RTX 50-series GPUs.
This beta feature allows the Nvidia App to automatically perform shader compilations in the background while the PC is idle, meaning less downtime when you're ready to play. Users can specify the amount of disk space for shader caches and set guidelines for when the compilations can occur, although it’s wise to monitor CPU usage since the process can be resource-intensive. Auto Shader Compilation is initially disabled but can be activated with the latest Nvidia App update.
