European law enforcement agencies have successfully dismantled a VPN service utilized by cybercriminals for ransomware and other illicit activities. This operation, spearheaded by law enforcement from France and the Netherlands, allowed authorities to track down thousands of users and arrest the VPN's administrator.
Europol announced that the VPN, known as 'First VPN,' was a prominent tool on Russian-speaking cybercrime forums, providing users with anonymity and services tailored for criminal endeavors. Post-operation, the First VPN website now indicates that it has been seized by a joint international law enforcement initiative.
