In a historic milestone, NASA's Artemis II mission has successfully exited Earth’s orbit, setting the stage for crewed flight around the Moon for the first time in over 50 years. The crew, comprising NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen, achieved this feat with a crucial six-minute burn of the Orion spacecraft's service module engine.
With the translunar injection burn completed, they are now en route to our nearest celestial neighbor. Dr. Lori Glaze, acting associate administrator for NASA’s Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate, remarked on the significance of this mission, noting the importance of data gathering and the progress made through each milestone. As the crew embarks on their intensive eight-day mission, they are paving the way for future lunar endeavors.
