Doug Field, who joined Ford after leaving Apple, is set to resign next month from his role overseeing the company's extensive electric vehicle and software initiatives. He will be succeeded by Alan Clarke, a former Tesla engineer currently leading Ford's innovative projects in California. Clarke will take on the position of vice president of advanced development projects while continuing to advance the Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) Platform.
This leadership transition occurs less than five months after Ford reported a significant $19.5 billion writedown related to its electric vehicle investments, along with the discontinuation of various electric models including the popular F-150 Lightning pickup.
