Tony Hawk revealed that he once modified his friend’s PlayStation 1 to obtain feedback on early versions of the iconic Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. During a panel at a recent gaming conference, Hawk recounted how he worked with Neversoft in 1998 to fine-tune the skateboarding classic.
According to Hawk, he received weekly CD builds of the game that he played on his modded console: "I started making copies... and sending them to skaters I knew were hardcore gamers." One such skater, Atiba Jefferson, provided valuable input after Hawk modified his PS1 for the same purpose.
As rumors of the game spread among the skate community, Hawk knew they had struck a chord: "When they referred to it as 'the game,' it gave me a sense of pride." Looking ahead, he expressed a desire to see Tony Hawk’s Underground remastered next.
