The US Space Force has identified a dozen companies collaborating on Space-Based Interceptors as part of the Golden Dome initiative. This multilayer defense strategy aims to protect US territories from an array of threats, including drones and different missile types such as hypersonic and cruise missiles.
Notable contractors involved in this project include Anduril Industries, Booz Allen Hamilton, General Dynamics Mission Systems, Lockheed Martin, and SpaceX, among others. These companies received a total of 20 awards via Other Transaction Authority (OTA) agreements, facilitating rapid prototyping and broader contractor participation.
This innovative approach is crucial for the initial phase of the Space-Based Interceptor program, enabling the Pentagon to expedite the development of essential defense technologies.
