Judge to Consider Breaking Up Ticketmaster

A federal judge is set to decide on the potential breakup of Ticketmaster, as over 30 states push for drastic action against the ticketing giant.

These states are requesting Judge Arun Subramanian to not only mandate the sale of Ticketmaster but also to limit its ability to tie access to major venues with its promotional services. This comes after a jury determined that Ticketmaster operates as an illegal monopolist following an extensive trial that concluded in April.

The initial proposed remedies do not include further separations of other segments of Live Nation's business, raising questions on the adequacy of the response to the earlier jury findings.
