SpaceX Challenges Amazon's Satellite Altitude Compliance

SpaceX, the operator of Starlink, has accused Amazon of breaching orbital debris standards by launching satellites at excessively high altitudes, thereby elevating collision risks with other orbiting craft. Following recent incidents where SpaceX satellites failed and contributed to space debris, the company criticized Amazon and its partner Arianespace, claiming their actions significantly jeopardize the safety of operational systems and manned spacecraft.
Amazon's satellite initiative, Amazon Leo, aims to compete with the extensive Starlink network by deploying its own satellites in low-Earth orbit (LEO). In response to the allegations, Amazon stated that it adhered to all safety requirements and noted that SpaceX previously assisted in launching satellites to similar altitudes. Amazon further claimed that any alteration to its launch parameters would cause significant delays.
Both companies have accused each other of exploiting FCC processes to hinder satellite deployments.
