Russia Conceals Launch Plans Amid Drone Threats
- Russian drones have targeted the Plesetsk spaceport area
- The launch schedule secrecy aligns with increased military satellite activity
- Roscosmos acknowledges recent drone attack attempts publicly
Recent reports indicate that Russia's northern spaceport has experienced multiple drone attack attempts in recent months, according to official sources. Although the drones have not succeeded in hitting the spaceport, these incidents coincide with Russia's intensified efforts at Plesetsk Cosmodrome, aimed at deploying a network of Internet and data relay satellites similar to SpaceX's Starlink.
Plesetsk, located around 500 miles north of Moscow in the Arkhangelsk region, is a military installation where satellite-building activities are critical to Ukraine's military communications capabilities. The acknowledgment of these drone attacks by Russian space agency head Dmitry Rogozin came during a meeting with President Putin, signaling heightened awareness and concern over the security of this strategic facility.
