Archaeologists Unveil Prehistoric Megastructure in Romania

Researchers from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) have made significant strides in understanding the organization of large prehistoric settlements through the discovery of a substantial megastructure. Excavations in Romania have uncovered a 350-square-meter building, indicating that such structures were present even in smaller communities.

This finding challenges previous notions about social organization, suggesting that these extensive settlements were able to thrive without clear hierarchical systems. The research offers valuable insights into the socio-political dynamics of ancient communities with thousands of members.
