Kamiya explained that the name arose during a discussion with Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, suggesting that they use a name from a movie he had recently watched. Additionally, the handgun Matilda, associated with Leon, was believed to reference a character from the film; however, Kamiya noted this was an addition from Capcom after his tenure.
