Metal Gear Solid 4 Remaster Keeps Classic Elements
- Metal Gear Solid 4 remaster launches in August 2023
- Iconic brand tie-ins and jokes from the 2008 original remain
- Enhanced graphics improve detail and visual clarity
The remaster of Metal Gear Solid 4 is set to debut on current-generation consoles this August as part of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 2. Recent gameplay trailers reveal not only stunning enhanced graphics but also a commitment to retaining beloved in-jokes and brand collaborations from the 2008 original.
In a recent livestream, Japanese writer Mafia Kajita and voice actor Yuichi Nakamura showcased Act 1 of the remaster, highlighting the return of the famous quip, "No place for Hideo," found on a watermelon-filled cardboard box, even as some features like Kojima’s blog URL have been removed due to its deprecation.
Fans can also expect the return of recognizable items, such as an original iPod and promotional products like Regain 24 energy drink. The remaster enhances visual fidelity, making details such as logos and character textures sharper than in the PS3 version, moving away from the stylized aesthetics of the original.
