NASA has announced that the launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is now targeted for early September 2026, ahead of its commitment to launch by May 2027.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman emphasized this achievement, stating, "Roman's accelerated development is a true success story of what we can achieve when public investment, institutional expertise, and private enterprise unite for ambitious missions that can transform our understanding of the universe." This announcement was made during a press conference on April 21 at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland.
The Roman Telescope will combine a wide field of view with advanced infrared capabilities, set to significantly enhance sky surveys and contribute to a variety of astronomical studies.
