Universal Pictures has announced the new title for its latest reboot of Miami Vice: Miami Vice ‘85. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, this film will delve into the glamour and underlying corruption of mid-1980s Miami, a setting reflective of the original NBC series that captivated audiences during that era.
Starring Michael B. Jordan as Ricardo Tubbs and Austin Butler as Sonny Crockett, the plot follows their journey as undercover detectives tackling drug dealers responsible for violence in the city. The narrative picks up as Tubbs relocates to Miami to reconnect with his brother’s past.
Produced by Dylan Clark and written by Dan Gilroy and Eric Singer, Miami Vice ‘85 is slated to begin filming later this year for an anticipated IMAX release on August 6, 2027.
