Gucci and Google Collaborating on Smart Glasses
- Gucci is teaming up with Google for stylish smart glasses
- The glasses are set to debut in 2027
- This marks Google's second attempt at the smart glasses market
Google is collaborating with Gucci to create a pair of AI-powered smart glasses that are not only functional but also fashion-forward, appealing to a wider audience. The initiative, led by Gucci's parent company Kering, aims to launch these innovative eyewear in 2027.
Meanwhile, Google's first foray into smart glasses, dubbed "Project Aura," is expected to hit the market this year. These Android XR glasses will feature a design reminiscent of Meta's Ray-Ban glasses, boasting chunky black frames. This venture represents Google's renewed effort in the smart glasses arena, following the lukewarm reception of Google Glass over a decade ago.
Additionally, Google announced partnerships with other eyewear brands like Warby Parker and Gentle Monster last year.
