Spiders Game Studio Shuts Down Operations
- Spiders, known for GreedFall, is closing immediately
- Nacon's insolvency led to Spiders' shutdown
- The studio's planned DLC will still be released
Spiders, the French video game developer recognized for its RPG series GreedFall, has announced it is shutting down. The company confirmed it will cease operations immediately, following financial troubles connected to its parent company, Nacon, which filed for insolvency just weeks before GreedFall 2's full release.
Founded in 2008, Spiders had carved a niche in the gaming world, transitioning from aiding in ports to creating original titles. Despite selling over 2 million copies of GreedFall within three years, the company struggled to find a stable buyer amidst the ongoing challenges in the gaming industry.
While the planned DLC for GreedFall: The Dying World will still be released through Nacon, all other functions will cease with the company's closure. The future of Spiders' intellectual properties remains uncertain.
