Final Fantasy XIV, the beloved MMO RPG, is set to make its debut on the Nintendo Switch 2. While the idea of adventuring through vast landscapes and participating in epic raids from anywhere is appealing, players should be aware of a significant stipulation regarding subscriptions.
The game's director, Naoki Yoshida, confirmed that players will need a distinct subscription to play on the Switch 2, differing from the single subscription model available for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Fortunately, players won't need a Switch Online subscription, although they can take advantage of a 50% discount if they are already subscribers on other platforms.
This unique requirement arose after extensive discussions between Square Enix and Nintendo, and it marks a shift from previous subscription models.
