Microsoft is reportedly reconsidering its strategy to include this year’s Call of Duty title as a day-one release on the Game Pass. Recent insights from industry analyst Jez Corden suggest that the potential addition of Call of Duty was a key factor behind the recent price hike of the subscription service.
New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma recently communicated to the team that Game Pass has become too expensive for players, prompting concerns about its long-term viability. Following Microsoft’s significant acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the company had integrated various Call of Duty games into the Game Pass; however, skepticism remains regarding the effectiveness of this approach among certain industry veterans, including former Activision head Bobby Kotick.
