Rockstar Games Faces Ransomware Attack Ahead of GTA 6

Rockstar Games has fallen victim to a new ransomware attack just as anticipation builds for Grand Theft Auto 6. The group ShinyHunters claims to have breached servers operated by the third-party cloud provider Anodot, threatening to release stolen data online if their demands are not met.

In a response, Rockstar stated that although a limited amount of non-essential company information was accessed, no serious breach occurred. They confirmed they would not pay the ransom.

Despite the intrusion, the impact on Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, was short-lived; shares initially plunged over six percent in pre-market trading before recovering.
