Sanford Panitch, the president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, revealed that the adaptation will be rated R and will diligently capture the game's signature gory aesthetic. Co-financed by Lyrical Media, the film also involves notable producers from PlayStation Productions and the renowned gaming personality Seán McLoughlin, known as Jacksepticeye.
